Meaning & History
From Japanese 蒼 (sou) meaning "blue, green" combined with 平 (hei) meaning "level; even; flat". Other kanji combinations are possible. A famous bearer is Souhei Morita, the pen name of Morita Yonematsu, a Japanese novelist and translator of Western literature active during the late Meiji, Taishō and early Shōwa periods of Japan.
