My name is Sora, I am a girl. Kind of annoying when people think it's Sara or pronounced like Zora or Zara. Not the best, but I still like it, just have to get over that I guess.

Sora (空) also means emptiness, so if you want to use it as a bad guy name in a manga or game or book, it works.
Sora Kawai was a Japanese poet of the seventeenth century (early Edo period). He was a disciple of one of the four classic Japanese haiku masters: Matsuo Bashō.
Sora Amamiya is a Japanese voice actress and singer. She is affiliated with Music Ray'n. While a sophomore in high school, Amamiya was introduced to a video collection of roles of voice actress Miyuki Sawashiro. Following this, Amamiya decided to become a voice actress. Amamiya, together with Momo Asakura and Shiina Natsukawa, passed an audition held by Music Ray'n in 2011, with the three making their voice acting debut in 2012.[4] Her first lead role was Kaori Fujimiya in the 2014 anime television series One Week Friends, where she also performed the series' ending theme "Kanade" (奏(かなで)?, lit. "Symphony"), a cover of a 2004 single by Sukima Switch. She also played the role of Akame in the anime television series Akame ga Kill which premiered in July 2014. She made her official music debut for Music Ray'n by performing Akame ga Kill's opening theme "Skyreach". In late 2014, Amamiya, Asakura, and Natsukawa formed the music unit TrySail, which released its first single "Youthful Dreamer", used as the opening theme to the anime television series Ultimate Otaku Teacher, on May 13, 2015. She advanced to the second round of a WTA event at the 2012 Hansol Korea Open for the first time of her career when Maria Kirilenko retired at 1–1 in their match.
Sora sounds more feminine to me than masculine- it also sounds more like a middle name. It reminds me of 'sorrel', which is a term for a reddish-brown horse. Saying that you can't name your child something Japanese is like saying you can't name your child Sarah because of the Hebrew origin; if you have that opinion, then I hope your child(ren) only have names like Wayne and Raven.

I love the name Sora! The name Sora makes me think of the main character Sora in Kingdom Hearts and the character Sora in Digimon. It suits both genders perfectly fine. :D I love that the origin of this name is Japanese as I adore Japanese names. ^_^

The name Sora was given to 51 baby girls born in the US in 2012.
No thanks. I'd rather not have my name associated with a video game character. I do like Kingdom Hearts, but it would be kind of ridiculous to name your kid Sora after the main character, especially if you're not Japanese.
I think it's fine on either gender, unlike some other "unisex" names today. It sounds boyish and brave, and yet at the same time, it's pretty and soft. It truly is a unisex name.
Awesome name. I like it a lot. A friend of mine has a boy ferret with this name, inspired by Kingdom Hearts. I thought it was cute and can be a person/animal/boy's name.
Hashiba Sora (Sora Hashiba in Western order) is a character in the Japanese light novel 'Suki na Mono wa Suki Dakara Shôganai!' a.k.a 'Sukisho' (it has also been made into an anime, several games, etc.) He is the main character and cannot recall his childhood. He has an alter ego named Yoru, who is shrew, flirtatious, and in love with Ran (Sunao's alter ego).

I love this name, it is so cool. It is cool as a guy or girls name I think. I've heard of it on Kingdom Hearts as a guy and Digimon as a girl and think the name suits them both well. It is well-rounded for any gender.

Sora (also known as porzana carolina) are a species of bird that are common in marshy areas of North America.
I like the name Sora a lot. I first heard it as a female name in "Digimon" and later in "Kingdom Hearts" as a male name. I think it makes a much better female name, in my opinion.
Actually I am named Sora. It's a family tradition to name to first child (boy or girl) Sora. I'm a female but my cousin is a male and it's also his name.

The only place I've ever heard this name was on "Kingdom Hearts" and that character was male.
It doesn't seem like a very common name in Japan, but possible, I believe. Young people these days are getting into using different names, so you never know what trends might come up in the next few years. "Ko" is becoming a rather rare ending for female names rather than being practically standard like it used to be. Now it's more often "e" (ay) or "mi" or "ki" or "ka" or maybe "na" or "no".
I personally like the name Sora, but it can be used on men too. It is more common for females to have this name but keep in mind that it can a guy's name too.
