Meaning & History
Name of a repeat character in Herge's comics TinTin. A blond Estonian pilot with an eye-patch, who shoots at TinTin and Haddock on orders but is later rescued by them and refuses to betray them. Friendly and honest, he provides assistance in further adventures. Although his full name is given as Piotr Skut, Skut is used as his name throughout the series. Skut is not an Estonian name but was given to facilitate a misunderstanding. In the English version, Haddock thinks he's being told to 'Scoot' instead of being introduced. Also related to the name of a bully, Scut Farkus, in the comedy 'A Christmas Story' (1983).
