In more proper Old Norse, this is pronounced [skah-thee], with a voiced ‘th’ sound (as in “then” or “they” rather than a voiceless ‘th’ as in “this” or “think”). It is also pronounced [skah-dee] but I believe it’s not accurate to do so. I don’t know the more modern Icelandic pronunciation.(Sources: https://forvo.com/search/skaði/non/, https://youtu.be/_IGNg773IE4 - about 20~ seconds in.)
Can someone add a correct pronunciation of the name? I've listened to a few but the sound quality wasn't great. It sounds like they were saying Scotty... is that correct?
I'm guessing, since Skaði means damage, that this is where we get the English word "scathe" from.(Edit--I was correct regarding the etymology: https://www.dictionary.com/browse/scathe)
It is also pronounced [skah-dee] but I believe it’s not accurate to do so. I don’t know the more modern Icelandic pronunciation.
