All names in Serbian/Croatian/Bosnian that have ending "iša" (š = sh) are based on the cult of Ishtar. This cult has its roots in today Iran and it came to Balkan during the Roman Empire. Many years later during Ottoman rule over Balkan Ishtar received pronunciation "make-up" to Iša (Isha / Esha), which was closer to Islam and Arabic language and culture.In particular, Siniša (Son of Isha or Išin sin in its original) is given to male children to celebrate goddess Ishtar, goddess of fertility, love and health.
