I hate it, so nerdy and hideous, sounds like semen.

I know sperms are vital for our survival, we're thankful of their hard work, but I don't find it proper on my poor baby. Imagine naming your kid Semen=Simon=Simeon=Sperm=Man Juice=Baby Bather Cmon people, there's better names than this facetious joke.
Weak name for a boy, especially nowadays. I guess "mommies" find it good, but "daddies" would really want to avoid it because it's just really "dead" and antiquated. As someone whose name was "Simon," growing up was painful. My parents thought it was "cool" to combine their names together just to come up with "Simon." In no way did I ever find the name "cool." It sounded pretty silly, and it didn't match my last name. It was also a pain to write my full name because it was pretty long. I had to wait until I was done with college until I was able to get rid of it. I had to get a court order and spend a fortune. It made things pretty complicated for me.I guess if you want your child be called "Simple Simon" then go ahead, or if you want your child to get teased with the never ending "Simon says..." then go ahead as well. Personally, I had to endure all of the bullying from being called "Sisi/Sissy" to "semen" to "salmon" to being ridiculed as if I'm a rainbow Digimon or Pokémon—a "Shemon." FYI, even Jesus changed Simon's name to Peter. Lastly, what if the child grows up into a princess? Choosing a gender-neutral name is the better and wiser option, in my opinion.
Yes, this name is pure feminine! TSi-Mo-Nìya (Holy-Mother-of-Ours) Pronounced like (Tsei-Mo-Neeya) The name is not related to Greek or Hebrew in any way, you just lack of knowledge in speaking Macedonian.
I love the name Simon and Simon can be for a boy and a girl but I think if ur gonna name a girl Simon, spell it Symon not Simon. Symon looks more feminine.
Why do people seem to hate this name so much? It isn't nerdy, in fact biblical Simons tend to be strong, masculine figures. People only think it's nerdy because of the stupid chipmunk, and he seems to have ruined this name unfortunately.
Well... how do I put this...OK. I'll just say it like it is: naming your child this will make them evil. It's an anagram for "monis" which is like moneys. I would never want my child to be obsessed with wealth!
It is not that in Latin America you say yes by saying Simon. This comment comes from people without education and/or Spanish speaking proficiency. Simon Bolivar was the leader of Latin America independence and is a name given in different Spanish speaking countries.

This is used as a slang in Spanish, especially in Mexico, It’s another way of saying “yes” which is “Si”, so some people will say “Simon” which is pronounced “See-Mon” in Spanish, but for me I don’t like this name, sounds so nerdy and kinda hideous.
A year ago before Christmas, my parents gifted me a beautiful white Turkish Angora kitten with electric blue eyes. He was weeks old when we brought him home, and we bonded with one another instantly. Simon is a beautiful name, and it will forever mean something to me. If you want to use the name Simon - be it for a lovely little kitten like mine, or perhaps a child - I would strongly suggest it. Simon was celestial, and I know I couldn’t have chosen a better name for him.
Simon is the middle chipmunk in Alvin And The Chipmunks. He is the tallest and extremely smart.

Simon Phillip Cowell is an English television personality. Entrepreneur, entertainment manager and record executive. He is best known for being on Britain's Got Talent, Americas Got Talent, American Idol and X Factor.
This is my absolute favourite name for a boy. That being said, I was reading the "Categories" section of the name, and it was not included in "Lord of the Flies Characters". Is there a list for that? If so, can someone add the name to it? I'm a new member and I'm not quite sure how to do stuff like that, or if we're able to. I use this site so much for character names for my stories (pretty much the only site I use, actually) and am so glad people put websites together like this! I've been using it for years. Much thanks to all the contributors/editors, as well as the people that first conceived this website!

Simon is one of those names that I, personally, have learned to appreciate. Whether the individual be a small child, adolescent, young adult, adult, or elderly man, you can never go wrong with Simon.

The title character in Verdi's opera Simon Boccanegra. He was also a historical person, the first elected Doge of Genova, although he used "Simone" and so it is used in the opera itself. Only the title loses the E for some unknown reason.

In Detroit Become Human, Simon is one of the androids that Markus meets in Jericho. He eventually becomes his follower and a potentially close companion.
This is indeed a nerdy sounding name, but I don't mind that at all. I was considering giving this name to one of my sons, but I had already given one of them the name "Theodore", and of course I didn't want the Alvin and the Chipmunks association, so I had to scratch it, but Simon is a great name. It definitely gives off an intelligent impression and seems quite underused.
In 'The Wolves of Willoughby Chase' by Joan Aiken, Bonnie and Sylvia's friend, who helps them escape from the horrible Mrs Brisket's 'orphanage', is called Simon. And in the second book of the series, 'Black Hearts in Battersea', Simon is the main character.
I love the name Simon. It's one of my favourite boys' names. It's uncommon, but still a great name, strong, manly, brave. I would be determined if I was called Simon; determined to make my dreams come true. If I ever have a son, I might name him Simon.
Simon "Sima" Vukčević is a Montenegrin footballer who plays for Chaves as an attacking midfielder. Vukčević started learning his craft at FK Zabjelo before moving to the Serbian capital to join the FK Partizan youth system at 13.
I'm probably going to end up naming my son Simon. I've always liked the name, and it reminds me of one of my favorite places, St. Simon's island (where my family is from).

Although I do like this name, it's not enough for me to use for any of my children. Plus, I picture a "Simon" more on a British boy than an American boy (More then likely my kids will be born and raised in the states) and I wouldn't want my kid to be tirelessly mocked with "Simon Says" jokes.

I hate my name but not enough to want to change it. Not being a fan of nicknames doesn't help. If you're thinking of calling your kid Simon, don't. It's unique enough so most likely the only other Simon they know is some old dude and the game 'Simon Says' will ruin most childhood games for you. Also, all my name makes me think of outside people is anti-depressant medication. If you are going to give a boy a rare first name, it has to make strong sounds orally like Stefan or a long name that can be shortened down to something reasonable like Montgomery to Monty.
To quote Homer Simpson: "They've taken all our good names like Lance, Bruce and Julian"... and Simon fits in there too. Along with Sebastian and Gaetano.

When I hear the name Simon I think of Clary's best friend in the Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare.
I love this name! I always think of the Simon character from the movie Nanny McPhee when I hear it. It was my favorite movie as a kid and that was my favorite character. So when I think of Simon, I think of a cute, yet temperamental and mischievous boy who also has a lot of goodness and innocence to him. Because of that character, this name doesn't sound "nerdy" to me.

Aramaic forms include Shimun (shee-moon), Shemun (sheh-moon), and Shemon (sheh-mohn). In indigenous Christian communities of Iraq, Iran, and Syria, this was a common name, born by many priests, elders, over-seers, and monks.
I love the name Simon! It's a great strong classic. It seems very under appreciated these days. The name Simon deserves more love! ^_^

Simon Lewis from the Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare. Originally a nerdy-but-cute "mundane", he becomes a vampire and a bit less nerdy through the course of the series.

Simon Delaitre is Adéle's dead boyfriend who comes back from Les Revenants; Pierre Perrier plays him.
This is my favorite boys name. I used to have an imaginary friend named Simon when I was little. :) It's very cute on a little boy, and sounds nice on a grown-up man as well. It always seems to me very friendly and kind, and also magical. I would love to name a son of mine Simon.
For some reason this name always makes me think of a smart person. Maybe it's because the only Simon I've ever met was a little nerdy kid with glasses. But I still really like this name, it kind of automatically makes you sound smart!
This name is also frequently used in The Netherlands, where the pronunciation is SEE-mawn. Clearly, the pronunciation is only slightly different from that of the Germans, who clearly use a Z-sound whereas the Dutch have an S-sound. [noted -ed]
I really don't know what to say about this name, because it's my birth name. I guess that's why I don't particularly like it, when I repeat it in my mind I can't say if it sounds good or bad. I really dislike the "nerdy guy" fame that has been given to it. I never met a guy named Simon that looked nerdy or annoying (and I'm not one either). I wonder what gave it such an unpopular fame. When I ask other people "what do you think of the name Simon?" I always get haters or lovers, but never in-betweens. I guess it's one of those names you either love or hate. I hate people who associate this name to the robot-game though. That's really mean.
In the Dark is Rising series by Susan Cooper, one of the three main characters from the first book, Under Sea and Over Stone, is Simon, he is the brother of Jane and Barney.
Simon was one of the sons on 7th Heaven. He was pretty smart at the beginning of the show, then he grew older, ran over a kid, and sort of became an idiot.

Simon Webbe is a singer, formerly in the boyband Blue.
There was a fictional character in Libba Bray's book (Rebel Angels) named Simon Maddleton. He was kind in general, a ladies man, but sort of stuck-up in my opinion.
Simón José Antonio de la Santísima Trinidad Bolívar y Palacios (born July 24, 1783 in Caracas, Venezuela; died December 17, 1830, in Santa Marta, Colombia) was a leader of several independence movements throughout South America, collectively known as Bolívar's War.Credited with leading the fight for independence in what are now the countries of Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Panama and Bolivia, he is revered as a hero in these countries and throughout much of the rest of Hispanic America. In 1802, he married María Teresa Rodríguez del Toro y Alaysa. When she died of yellow fever less than a year later, he never remarried.Bolívar is known as "El Libertador", The Liberator, as well as the "George Washington of South America" due to his leading the above independence movements, just as Washington led and won independence for the United States.
Simon Templar is a fictional character known as The Saint in a long-running series of books by Leslie Charteris published between 1928 and 1963. After that date other authors collaborated with Charteris on the books until 1983; two additional works without the participation of Charteris were published in 1997.
I like the name Simon. It is a strong name for a boy. Not overused either.

Sorry, but the first thing that comes to mind when I hear the name Simon is "Simple Simon met a pie man." It is a nice name, but that darn poem is famous.
