Meaning & History
Old Norse name meaning "victory-bringer" or "inciter to victory", the first element from sigr "victory" (the second element perhaps related to drífa "driven snow, snowdrift"; compare Drífa). According to the 'Sigrdrífumál' of the Poetic Edda, this was an epithet of the valkyrie Brynhildr.
