It is an ethnic name as the Ciboney, or Siboney, were a Taíno people of Cuba, Jamaica and Hispaniola (Haiti and Dominican Republic). As given name is probably after Siboney a 1929 song written by Ernesto Lecuona, inspired by the village Siboney near Santiago de Cuba.
