Whoever downvoted my comment: lol, you are wrong. Some people never know that Japanese has no sounding like "r" or else you cannot pronounce "ryu" or "ryo." Go to Google translate, put something with r in it and listen to how it sounds in Japanese.
Shiro is the name of the main character in the Anime K. He has no memory of the event he is said to have been a part of. Quite the interesting character. I can't help but love the name because of him.
The name of the unbelievably evil monster of a man, Shiro Ishii. He was the commander of the infamous Unit 731, a covert biological and chemical warfare research and development unit of the Imperial Japanese Army that undertook lethal human experimentation often without anesthesia - not really something you should look up without having a strong stomach. Even though it's a rather obscure namesake and a relatively average name, the sheer evil of the actions of Unit 731 makes this a name I truly loathe and would never want to see on a child.
Shiro is the name of a character in the dog mangas Ginga Nagereboshi Gin and Ginga Densetsu Riki. He's the father of legendary dog Riki. Needless to say, he's white. I begun to like this name because of him.
Shiro also means 'white'. In the manga 'Bleach' there is a character named Toushiro which can be literally translated as frozen white or more specifically-winter, the name may refer to the abilities of the character's zanpaktou (sword/katana). It can also be translated as white child which would refer to the character's young age and white hair.
