There are a lot of dislikes for this name but I quite like it. It sounds very masculine and down-to-earth but still somehow gentle. There’s a resemblance to the name ‘Herman’ as well. The movie “Mr. Peabody and Sherman” features a young boy character with this name.

Hmmmmm. I'm probably biased, but not a fan.

Lol, so my first name is Sherman. My grandfather's name was Sherman, so naturally I'm the Third. He was named after a Baptist Minister from the early 1900's. Unfortunately my name has never been well represented in movies, history, or literature. However, unlike slight night shiver above, I enjoy my name and don't think it's that bad. How many Shermans have you met in your life?
I absolutely loathe this name with a flaming passion. It sounds like the surname of obnoxious jerks, and it sounds like the first name of obnoxious jerks. The name is flat out ugly, and it's so surname-y that I would call it pretentious if it didn't make the think of lower middle class people. This is also the first name of author Sherman Alexie, and guess what, he's an obnoxious jerk! He has really ruined this ugly name even more.
