It is just a random name that sounds funny. Stop stereotyping it to an African American name.

This is my name, and I'm not a low-class person or trashy at all. I feel that people only dislike these kinds of names because they're associated with black people. As an African-American myself, that upsets me.
My friend's name is Sanin (with a diacritic sign above "S") and it is pronounced SHA- NEEN. I do not think that anybody relates this name with a certain social class- not in my country at least. However, many people that I know find it interesting.
It sounds quite tacky and borderline trashy. No one would really expect someone named Shanene to come from a very wealthy family. Now, I was born to poor parents myself, and things have changed a lot since, so I'd hate to sound classist, but the idea is that if the name sounds low-class, the person appears uneducated, stupid, and is assumed to be one of those annoying, loud-mouthed people that used to beat up or verbally abuse more successful girls in school, and who ended up having a crappy job and a boyfriend who beats her up when drunk, which is often, and who does the ''nasty'' sort of drugs. That's life.
