"Sevda" means melancholy, sadness in Georgian. It's a beautiful name still. Meanings love and sadness compliment each other. Life has both of these extreme feelings, so, it's a really thoughtful name.
In Bulgaria even there is a masculine name Sevdalin derivative from Sevda and are considered Bulgarian. In one church booklet from 1942, the names approved at baptism are Sevda, Sevdena, Sevdalina, Sevdalena.
