My name is Sadhbh, and I like this name. But it’s common in Munster of Ireland tbh. I’m from Laois.
Pronunciation: http://forvo.com/search/Sadhbh/
My name is Sadhbh, I'm Irish and it's as common as MUCK! And to make things even worse my surname is common.
Sadhbh isn't a variant of Sadb - it's the Modern Irish form. [noted -ed]
Sadhbh is an old Irish (Gaelic) name, meaning wisdom.
There are no words for how gorgeous this name is. And no, it doesn't mean sow like the user commented above. In fact, I like it so much I would use it in America or Great Britain; I don't care if she'll have to spell it all of her life, in the end it would be all worth it, and eventually she would realize that to.
If you will read my comment again you will see that I didn't say it MEANT sow. I said it was PRONOUNCED "sow" in the Irish language as pronounced in Connacht. (Other dialects pronounce it "siev" (rhymes with "dive").)
This is sometimes used as an Irish version of Sophia/Sophie.
In Connacht Irish (Gaelic) the name is pronounced "Sow". For some mysterious reason, this pronunciation hasn't caught on among English speakers.
