I love this name. This is my twin sister's name. We were both adopted from Germany in 2017, and together we are Sabine and Wilhelm. But anyway, it's definitely used in Germany.
I don't just love this name for its beautiful sound and rarity (at least where I live), but also I really love the character (Ladybug's mother) from Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Chat/Cat Noir. She's a badass who doesn't take crap from anybody, and I'd love having that association with my name. (Not named Sabine haha.)
From Latin Sabinus, this name is said to mean "of one's own," and it comes from Proto-Indo-European. Proto-Indo-Europeans were the prehistoric people of Eurasia who spoke Proto-Indo-European, the ancestor of the Indo-European languages according to linguistic reconstruction. From what we've come to understand, *sebʰ-/*swebʰ- means “one's own”.I like to study names and how they are formed. This one was an interesting find for me.

It's not my favorite name. It reminds me of sardine, which isn't very pleasant. I've only known one Sabyne (that's how she spelt it) who's a guy now ♥.
This has never really been my favorite, but I recently read a great book where the protagonist was named Sabine (The Revolution of Sabine, by Beth Levine Ain). It's begun to grow on me.
It is the first name of Milady de Winter in the 1993 movie version of 'The Three Musketeers', but not in the original book, nor in the other movie versions I've seen.
