Apart from Ruxandra a similar name, Ruxanda, is also used in Romania and the Republic of Moldova even though it's much less common.

Someone here mentioned that it's not a form of Roxana. I speak Romanian and did some research on Romanian websites and it seems to derive from either Alexandra or Roxana. About 50% of all websites I looked at said it derived from Alexandra and the other 50% listed Roxana. It would be interesting to know where it really comes from.It's not used very much in Romania but it's quite common in the Republic of Moldova.

I just met a Ruxy (not Roxy) here in UK. She is Romanian... and delightful.
