Ruthie Tompson, born July 22, 1910, American animator and artist, who has just (July 22, 2020) turned 110! She worked on several of Walt Disney's films, including Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Fantasia, Dumbo, Pinocchio, Sleeping Beauty and Mary Poppins.
I'm absolutely smitten with this name! I'm not normally a huge fan of using nicknames as full names, but I think with Ruthie it works. It's old-fashioned enough where Ruthie has a vintage charm to it, instead of being too cutesy cutesy like Maddie or Abby. Ruthie is a lovely girls name :)

The name Ruthie was given to 94 baby girls born in the US in 2012. I happen to think this name is totally adorable, but I agree, it's best as a nickname for Ruth.
Such a sweet nickname for such a sweet name. I wouldn't use it as a given name though, but if I named my daughter Ruth I'd probably end up calling her Ruthie every once in a while :)

In John Steinbeck's The Grapes of Wrath, Ruthie is the twelve-year-old sister of the central character, Tom Joad. She's a bit of a trouble-maker, and always demands attention.
