Rufina Ivanovna Pukhova (1 September 1932 - 17 May 2021) was a Russian memoir writer. She was the last wife of Kim Philby, a KGB double agent who rose in rank through British Intelligence along with the Cambridge Five. She is the author of "The Private Life of Kim Philby: The Moscow Years" (2000). Pukhova was born in Moscow to a Russian father and a Polish mother.

Rufina Alfaro is a possibly legendary figure in the Panamanian independence movement. According to legend, she led a march on November 10, 1821 that resulted in the population of Los Santos rising up against Spanish rulers. Although even her existence is disputed, Alfaro is part of popular memory and even is an official symbol of Panama.

This name makes me shudder. It's a terrible name. It sounds too harsh despite the "ina" ending. It's too close to Rufus. I always think of an old, dirty hound. The name sounds backwoodsy. It depresses me.
I think this is a great name, it would be great for a red-haired little girl's name, as Rufina means "red" or "red-haired" ("red-haired beauty"). I can see this name being used in the English language in the future, due to its meaning. :)
