Nathan from One Tree Hill's full name is Nathan Royal Scott and, of course, Royal Tenenbaum is the name of a character in the film The Royal Tenenbaums. I understand using this name as a reference to pop culture but the truth is this name is just too tacky and out there to be taken seriously. It is one of those names that would give a person trouble in life. Imagine looking through job applications and seeing someone with this name in the stack. I'm sorry but they would immediately be at a disadvantage. If this was my name I would go by Rory.
Royal ‘Roy’ Gardner is Anne Shirley’s college boyfriend/fiancé in Anne of the Island, by Lucy Maud Montgomery. Anne thinks Royal is her ‘ideal’, tall, dark, handsome, mysterious…I don’t care much for this name but I like it for a fictional character, especially in a historical fiction. And I like the vintage nickname Roy.
This would be an embarrassing name to have. Most of the Royal families these days are also pretty awful, spoiled and entitled. Why would you want to be associated with them?
I'm going to pretend that this name isn't listed in the charts as well! To say that "Royal" is a terrible name for anyone is a monumental understatement. Also, one with this name is bound to be very conceited or have self-esteem issues from all the years of being mercilessly bullied with having this name.

I'm just going to pretend this isn't on the charts. To me, Royal will never be a proper name. It's just silly!

I think the name Royal is beautiful because it is my name and I am a female. I always get compliments on my name: Royal Azure. I haven't ever received strange looks because of my name. Even my college professors gave me compliments! Yes, I do know a few boys named Royal but I think it sounds better for girls. So there you go. Hello! My name is Royal.
Royal. What a strange name. But you could always use Roy as a nickname.

I know a girl named Royal Anne (first/middle name) - Her grandmother always used to mutter that her mom was naming her after the cherries! But now, she's grown into a gorgeous red-head and the name Royal suits her perfectly!
What a silly name. It actually sounds a bit like a name low class people would use. If ghetto and trailer park people name their kids Chardonnay and Lexus, sure the less wealthy types would have picked this name too. I can't imagine anyone using it anymore, though.
I have a cousin named "Royal King." Odd combination.

Royal Wilder was a relatively famous bearer of this name. He was Almanzo Wilder's brother, and as such showed up in Laura Ingalls Wilder's Little House books.
