Portuguese professional footballer Cristiano Ronaldo bears Ronaldo as his second name and he plays for the Spanish club Real Madrid and the Portugal national team.
Whoever said "this is a very common name among soccer players" is an idiot. I know plenty of Ronaldos who aren't footballers. Ronaldo just happens to be common in Portuguese - it has nothing to do with sports. Do you think all men named Justin are entertainers becuase a lot of famous Justins are entertainers?
The Portuguese footballer Cristiano Ronaldo's real name is Cristiano Ronaldo dos Santos Aveiro - his father picked Ronaldo as his son's second given name because Ronald Reagan was his favourite actor (this was in the mid eighties).

Cristiano Ronaldo, currently playing for Manchester United, is a bearer of this name.
Hello. Does anyone watch football anymore? And no one commented on this name? I love it, Ronaldo (Brasil) and Ronaldinho (Brasil) are my favourite footballplayers ever! Too bad Ronaldo (Portugal) has the same name, it spoils it a bit. :S But, well. ;)
In response to chizzalazty, Ronaldinho's real name is Ronaldo De Assis Moreira. So he can be counted as a famous bearer as well ;) He is my hero and I think this name sounds sooo exotic and beautiful.
