We named our son Rordan as a variant of this name, dropped the i so people would pronounce it ROAR-dan. We call him Rory for short. We figured contracting the name is par for the course since it was originally Rioghbhardan.
It is most commonly pronounced Reardon but we pronounce it Rye-er-din. The plus is never having to write my son's last name on anything. :) He's 15 now and has always loved his name.
I agree. I keep looking for a name pronounced "ROAR-dan" instead of "REER-dan" but no such luck. I usually loathe made up names, but I'm driven to the point of desperation here. Rordan look okay?
