The first element of this name is derived from the Lithuanian verb rimti meaning "to calm down, to quieten". It is related to the Lithuanian adjective ramus meaning "calm, quiet, peaceful" (see RAMŪNAS) and the Lithuanian noun ramybė meaning "tranquility, peace, quiet". The second element of this name is either derived from Lithuanian mantus meaning "intelligent" (see DAUMANTAS) or from Lithuanian manta meaning "property, estate" as well as "wealth, riches, fortune".
