The first appearance of Ridge on the US name popularity statistics in 1988 can be attributed to Ridge Forrester, who is one of the original main characters of the popular American soap opera "The Bold and the Beautiful" (which premiered in March 1987 and is still running today).

I am unsure why the name Ridge suddenly re-appeared on the US name popularity statistics in 2015 and has remained there ever since. It seems unlikely that it has anything to do with the aforementioned character or even his youngest son, who is named Ridge Forrester Jr. in his honour but goes by R.J. ("Ridge Junior") in daily life. He was born in June 2004, so any impact he might have had should have surfaced in the popularity statistics around 2005, and not some ten years later in 2015.

Fun fact: one of the child actors that portrayed R.J. Forrester is also named Ridge, namely Ridge Perkett. He had the role from 2006 to 2009.
