Renita J. Weems is an American ordained minister, a Hebrew Bible scholar, and an author. In 1989 she received a Ph.D. in Old Testament/Hebrew Bible studies from Princeton Theological Seminary making her the first African American woman to earn a Ph.D. in the field. Her work in womanist biblical interpretation is frequently cited in feminist theology and womanist theology. She is credited with developing theology and ethics as a field.

Renita Farrell-Garard, AM, is a former field hockey player from Australia, who was a member of the Australian Women’s Hockey Team, best known as the Hockeyroos, that won the gold medals at the 1996 and the 2000 Summer Olympics. She made her international debut in 1994, and co-captained the winning Atlanta side.
