My cousin is Remington, but nobody calls him that, we call him Remi. He was named after the rifle. It’s a country backwoods name. Fitting for the homeschooled farm boy raised in a cabin in the woods. Remington does sound pretentious, but Remi is definitely a wholesome variation. He is very sweet and polite. The name reminds me of a short and fat smiling Remi, now he’s a marine. Makes me think of a happy guy in camo.
Pretentious, cringy, trying way too hard. It sounds like the name of a property. Remington Place sounds like the name of a country estate.
This is an example of a surname that just doesn't work as a given name. You could just use Remi on its own or make it short for something like Jeremy, Remiel, Remira or Rosemary. Anything but Remington as a first name!
Trashy.
Please just use Remy as a full name.
Kind of odd that nobody here mentioned Remington Steele.
Remington is super Country & would suit a little cowboy type baby boy. I will always like the name Remington. Yes, it's connected to guns or a gun manufacturer company but I don't personally care. I love the nickname Remi.
I dislike it, my first impressions of someone called Remington would be that they live in a mansion in the English countryside and wouldn't know how much a loaf of bread costs.
I like it, it's friendly and gentlemanly sounding. I don't feel like it's pretentious or republican-ish at all because I associate it with an awesome teacher of mine.
Remington Donovan is a spectacular numerologist, author and teacher.
I hate this name. I'd expect the parents of a little Remington to be gun nuts and Trump supporters.
Cool name for a boy/man. Traditional, yet unique enough. Remy would be cute nickname for this in my opinion.
Best kept as a surname.
Not feminine at all.
Ugly. It also reminds me of the gun called a Remington 870.
Remington Leith Kropp from Palaye Royale.
I may be biased but it's a pretty good name.
Very surnamey, pretentious, and not feminine at all.
That name as a given name is illegitimate beyond words, but Rémy is a lot better and it means "an oarsman or rower".
I don't like it.
Sounds better as a surname.
Every time I hear this name I think of Remington Steele, a fun TV show from the 80's. I would totally name my son this.
I gave this name to my male rag doll kitten, who has bright blue eyes and long white fur. His nickname is Remi or Remy. I had no idea of its weapons association, and honestly I don't care much. I think it's a strong-sounding, elegant and refined name. It fits my cat perfectly.
Love this name on a girl; it’s very pretty! Who cares if it’s the name of a gun? It only makes Remington stronger!
People beware. This name is a trap, and something that should never be used at all. Never ever name a kid after a firearms company at all.
Named after one of the firearms companies responsible for horrendously and dreadfully violent and deadly incidents such as massacres involving their weapons. CAUTION! Do NOT give any kids, if you folks have any, that name. I mean EVER!
