Dr. Raymundo Punongbayan (1937 – 2005) was a Filipino volcanologist and geologist. He was the former director of the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) from 1983 to 2002. This was the name of the "surfer dude" dad on the cartoon "Rocket Power". I'm not sure how well-known he (or the show for that matter) is anymore, but it was very popular in its day, and thus I can't hear the name "Raymundo" without thinking "surfer".
