Ramesh can also be the modern form or transcription of the Persian given name رامش (Ramish), which is derived from Persian رامش (ramish) meaning "joy, happiness, cheerfulness, delight". It should be descended from Middle Persian rāmišn meaning "peace, ease, pleasure". Also compare modern Persian آرام (aram) meaning "rest, tranquility, peace".
A notable bearer of this name is the Iranian singer Ramesh (b. 1950), whose real name is Azar Mohebbi Tehrani.
