In Vietnamese culture, the turtle is an sacred mythical creature. The turtle appeared in many Vietnamese mythical stories and legends as the guardian who support and help the heroes (the future king) to protect and built the country.

The most famous stories about the gold turtle is "The Legend of Guom lake" and "The story of Mi Chau, Trong Thuy".
