Great name, it's strong, unique and has an upbeat feeling to it thanks to the 'cy' sound at the end. A lot of people here seem to be protective of the names use for whatever reasons but I think there's nothing wrong with names being unisex and it's not doing harm to anyone so if you love the name then use it! To all the guys out there it doesn't make your name any less masculine or strong or cool just because a girl uses it don't worry :)
I love this name! It feels like a formal name, if that makes any sense.

It's an incredibly beautiful name. 100% prefer it on boys. Basically, I have a serious problem with the phenomenon of unisex names, and I believe that people have been ruining (and still are doing so) the identity & gender monopoly of human names by giving every beautiful boy name that has (Y, A, E, H) as the last letter to their girls. We need to get back to our roots. Were ancient people like this? Or each name at the time used to belong to one gender? How many women in the ancient time do you know that were named Cyrus, Alexander, Genghis, Muhammad, Jesus, Nero, Socrates? Please cancel this circus and save every name for its original and historical gender.
I have a friend whose name is Quincy, and she's a girl, which proves that this name can be a unisex name! Besides, these days, more girls are getting so-called "boy" names.
Although Quincy is a very nice name, it personally reminds me of the word crunchy, which then reminds me of eating crunchy Taco Bell tacos. I am often left with a painful surprise in the bathroom after that, therefore I can not get on board with the name Quincy.

Squidward J. Quincy Tentacles is a character from SpongeBob SquarePants.
Quincy is a masculine name. Not every male name needs to be slapped on a girl these days. Let the boys have their share too. Very handsome boy name. It means fifth son.

This name can be given to girls. Much closer to feminine than "Madison," that's for sure. "It means fifth son," said one commenter. No, Quintus means fifth son. Quincy is a different name entirely, just as Julia is a different name than Julius. -cy is in no universe a masculine ending. "Just let boys have their own names," says the same commenter. Look, I agree that there's a bit too much gender-bending of some names going on (Madison, as I mentioned; I think Lauren is another example: it ought to be Lauren for boys (as it used to be), Laura for girls), but I just don't think Quincy is masculine sounding enough to deserve "reserved for boys" status. Plus you have names like John, James, Michael, Gregory, etc, that no one is ever going to consider giving to girls. If they do, I'll fight those people side by side with you. But I'm not going to judge you for naming your daughter Quincy. For me, Quinn and Quincy work well for girls; people start naming their daughters Quentin/on/en or Quintus, then you can call me. But I don't know why boys should have a monopoly on words meaning "fifth."

We named our son, Quincy. I LOVE IT! We live in a very small, rural town and when he got to daycare there was another Quincy in his class of ten?! Small world but I love the name.. I call him Quinn or Quinny for short... I think it can be either a girl or boy. It's a beautiful prestigious namesake.
I like the name Quinn for a girl better than a boy. But Quincy doesn’t sound any more masculine than Quinn. So Quinn and Quincy both make very cute girl names. I’m starting to state my own opinions on names instead of saying it’s okay for both genders. Go me!

Quincy is a strong name with historical roots to the Founding Fathers; John Quincy Adams. There are many places in the New England Area named after him. The city of Quincy (waterfront town 10 minutes south of Boston), the famous Quincy Market at Faneuil Hall, etc. This name has a very classic, but at the same time modern feel with the "-ee" sound at the end. It may be a little too much to use as a first name if you live in Massachusetts due to the references to landmarks and towns (you'll be asked if you're named after the town constantly), but would be quite nice for a middle name. Other areas of the country/world would work better as it would be more associated with the historical past. I personally see this as primarily a male name, but it could also work as a female name due to the -ee sound.
In 2018, 33 is the most common age for an American (U.S.) Quincy who is registered male with the Social Security Administration. It is the 1, 421st most common male first name for living U.S. citizens. In 2018, 2 is the most common age for an American (U.S.) Quincy who is registered female with the Social Security Administration. It is the 5, 172nd most common female first name for living U.S. citizens.
I only like this for a girl. It sounds like too much for a boy.

As far as I can tell, the French place name from which the surname of Quincy is derived - namely, Cuinchy - was originally called Quintiacum in Latin, not Quintacum. As a result, the place name may not have been directly derived from Quintus, but from the name Quintius (which itself is ultimately derived from Quintus). This seems feasible, if you also look at the forms of Quintius in other languages:- Quincio (Spanish) - Quincío (Portuguese) - Quinzio (Italian)(see https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quinzio)The French form of the name should be Quince (or perhaps even Quincy), seeing as Latin names ending in -tius usually become -ce in French. However, I can't find much evidence of the French form so far.Either way, it might be worth considering that the name Quintius might have been involved along the way of derivation for the (sur)name Quincy. [noted -ed]
My name is Quincey. My mom said she added the "e" to make it more girly. I have met only one girl with the same name Quincey. Her grandfather gave her that name and it turns out her grandfather was my 5th grade school teacher. If you asked me 20 years ago I would say Quincey was a black mans name. Being now in my early 40's - I say Quincy is a pretty name and unique. If I ever have a daughter, I will name her Quinn and I won't care if that is a guys name or not. Power of the Q!
Who said a name, to be qualified as feminine, has to be soft and pretty? I disagree. I think that Quincy is both male, AND female.

It'd be ok for a boy but it strikes me as either a nerdy or old man name like Arthur, Percy, Cecil (no offense to anyone named these).I don't see how it is a girl's name. It's not pretty or feminine at all.
Maybe it's from the strong (for me) association with the president, but I see this as an all-male name. It sounds like a girl's name to me, but the president is so big in my mind that he alone pushes it to male.

Quincy Morris is a character in Bram Stoker's 'Dracula'.
Obviously, from my username you can tell that my real name is Quincy. ;) I am a male, and from my experience I've never been teased about my name. I have only seen one female with my name before. I'm not really sure if it's more masculine or feminine, but since I'm a male it's sort of biased. :P
Honestly, in this day and age, naming a boy Quincy is tantamount to making him wear a tutu to school. I don't mean to be awful, BUT, I really find this to be a girl's name. If it were me, and I just had to have my child have this name, I'd go with the nickname suggested above, Quinn, for a boy and Quincy, with it' lovely "-ncy" ending (like Nancy), for a girl.
Quincy is only a masculine name. It is not feminine and masculine.

I like the name Quincy, for a girl only. I think it should be a male and female name. I only know girls named Quincy.
