Meaning & History
From Egyptian psmṯk, possibly a short form of pꜣ-sꜣ-n-mṯk meaning "the man of Meṯek", Meṯek (or Metjek) being a hypothetical Libyan deity. Alternatively, it could derive from an Egyptian transcription of an Assyrian name. This was the name of three pharaohs of ancient Egypt.
