Meaning & History
From the Greek adjective πολύκλειτος (polykleitos) meaning "far-famed, of great renown", itself from πολύς (polys) "much, many" and κλειτός (kleitos) "famous, renowned, splendid". A notable bearer was Polykleitos of Argos, a 5th-century BC Greek sculptor.
