Polygnotus

Latinized form of Greek Πολύγνωτος (Polygnotos) meaning "well-known, renowned", composed of πολύς (polys) "much, many" and γνωτός (gnotos) "known" (older and more correct form of γνωστός (gnostos)). This name was borne by an ancient Greek vase painter of the mid-5th century BC.
