Scripts Φέρουσα(Ancient Greek)
Meaning & History
Latinized form of Greek Φέρουσα (Pherousa) meaning "carrying (ships)", being a participle of the verb φέρω (phero) "to carry" (as well as "to be swept away, to be borne along by waves"). In Greek mythology this name was borne by one of the Nereids; along with her sister Dynamene, Pherusa was a personification of ocean swells.
