Pet, Petra, Trina, Rina, Riri and Patsy could be nicknames.
Lovely name. Uncommon, yet not too strange-sounding (its root name is fairly obvious).

Funny enough, in Croatia Petrina is a familiar, non-formal variant of Petar (masculine), being an augmentative form (that is, the opposite of diminutive). As a feminine name it's very rare.

I actually think Petrina is a really lovely name. I've only known one person with this name, and the first time I'd even heard it was upon meeting her. I think it's really nice. I prefer it to Petra.
I think the previous comment really lacks substance. You may have your reasons to dislike the name, while as some others might like the name, but no need to be rude anyway. And why not comment on names you can provide us with some real new insights instead? In Finnish the name is spelled with double-i, and popular as a middle name since mid-80's. It can be viewed as a combination of masculine Petri and feminine Iina or Riina. So the name might appear to reflect stronger or more masculine character than other feminine names with the common final-a. It might even make you think that maybe the parents were initially hoping for a son. In English "Pet" sounds cute, and the name probably appears more feminine in nature, while in both languages it is certainly a female name.

This is one ugly name! I don't mean to insult anyone with this name though.
