Meaning & History
The first element of this name is derived from either the Greek noun πεῖσα (peisa) meaning "obedience" or the Greek noun πεῖσις (peisis) meaning "persuasion". Both words are ultimately derived from the Greek verb πείθω (peitho) meaning "to persuade, to convince" as well as "to obey, to yield to" and "to believe, to trust (in)". The second element of this name is derived from Greek ἀνδρός (andros) meaning "of a man".Also compare the Greek name Peithandros, which is closely related and essentially means the same.
