Meaning uncertain. It could be derived from Finnish peikko "troll" or poika "boy" (the Swedish word for boy, pojke, is derived from the Finnish word). The name appears in folk tales in the Swedish-speaking parts of Finland.In Denmark, Peik is a Frisian diminutive of Pay, a form of Paulus. Norwegian author Barbra Ring used it in her novel "Peik" where it was a short form of Pavel.
