Meaning & History

Means "redemption of Yahweh" or "he upgrades to the standard of Yahweh." The name of several men in the Bible, including a Levite in the time of Nehemiah. 1 Chronicles 3:18-19 lists Pedaiah as a son of King Jehoiachin and the father of Zerubbabel, although most other Biblical mentions claim that Shealtiel was Zerubbabel's father.
