A sweet name, bit dated in the UK and associated with native English working class and under class of the 40s-60s. Every time I hear this name I think of the 'No Girl's Allowed' scene from the movie Hope and Glory, 1987. I really like it.

I do like the name Pauline and I like Polly and Lina for nicknames. Unfortunately though, there is a politician in Australia with this name with very controversial views and so by association, it has put me off of ever using this name.

The name Pauline was given to 77 girls born in the US in 2015.
My name is Pauline Gloria. I was named after my aunt Veronica Pauline. She was my Godmother as well as a great lady. I named my daughter Jacqueline Pauline. To carry the name on as did my ancestors. I always know where and how I met someone by what they call me. Coworkers call me Pauline, friends call me Paula, and family calls me Paul. The older I get the more I appreciate my name and the way I look.
Pauline is also my name and my mom got it from her name Frauline, my name is pronounced as PO-LEEN, but here in the Philippines, my name's a handful so they call me Pau instead. *Pau sounds like Siopao and Siopao is a kind of bun with meat inside. Really good. But nobody likes being teased with a food name.
A famous bearer, Pauline Kael (June 19, 1919 – September 3, 2001), was an American film critic from 1951 to 1991. From 1968 to 1991, she wrote for "The New Yorker Magazine".
A friend of mine is named Pauline, I don't like the name at all. But knowing her had made me feel different about it. Still, wouldn't name my child that.
My name is actually Andrew but I suit the name Pauline much better! All my friends call me Pauline and I answer to it well, although at home I get called Andrew! I'm not gay or getting bullied or anything, it's just something that's happened at school!

Pauline is a popular name in France and Germany at the moment. The daughter of Princess Stephanie of Monaco is named Pauline Grace (Grace I guess is after Grace Kelly, Stephanie´s mother and Pauline´s grandmother). She has two more children, Louis and Camille. In Germany this name is pronounced Pau-lee-neh or Pau-eh-lee-neh (the -au is pronounced like the -ou in "cloudy") in France it is pronounced Po-LEEN.
