Meaning & History
The first element of this name comes from banda, which is derived from Langobardic bando "flag, banner" or from Old High German banz "province, countryside." The first element might also come from Greek pan "all", but this is unlikely. The second element of this Germanic name is derived from Gothic vulfs "wolf." Pandulf I was a 10th-century prince of Benevento (Italy) and Capua (Italy).
