The word Orvokki was invented by Elias Lönnrot. The orvo-part of it comes from the word orpo, which means orphan. The kki is common in flower and female names (like leinikki and Tuulikki).

Not every name needs a nickname.To me, it sounds old-fashioned in a positive way. It's not ugly, though the meaning isn't really that dignified.
