The name does seem very dated. If someone wanted to pay tribute to the Norma in their life they might go with a close and modern sounding name of Nora.

Definitely an old person name, but it’s swinging back. I think of Norma Jean (Marilyn Monroe), and one of the bullies from the movie “Carrie”. I like it a lot- but it’s almost too simple. I think it’s timeless. Remember that the ‘old person’ name pendulum will always swing. Decades from now maybe all the Hannahs, Mikaylas, Katies, Jakes etc. will be old people’s names- or they’ll be considered timeless, who knows?
This name has a warm, pleasant sound. It is familiar and recognizable to all, but unusual enough that a girl (the name-bearer) is free to create her own character within it. The name is in use among Mexican-Americans.
Norma was the name of my twin sister, she went missing in 1919. I think Norma is a very classy, regal, and simple name. This name is quite uncommon today, so I think Norma won't be confused with another Norma, overall I give Norma a 10/10, it's a name that'll always hold a special place in my heart, due to my twin sister Norma. Thanks for reading :)

My Grandmother, who sadly passed away a few months ago was called Norma. She was a lovely person and I loved her dearly. While the name Norma does have good connotations for me, I am personally not keen on it as a name, and even my Grandmother wasn't keen on her name. It is extremely dated and it doesn't have many, or any, nickname options. The only ones that come to mind are "Norm" and "Normie", which don't sound very pleasant, in my opinion. I don't know anybody else called Norma, and I would be quite surprised if I one day met a baby called Norma.

It's not a very pretty name, and it sounds like a country girl name from 1940's America. It always struck me as too close to the words 'norm' and 'normal', which are rather unfortunate terms to use for judging people anyway.
