My name is Nina and I have only ever met one person who shares my name - who went to my kindergarten! I'm 16 now, and personally find the name quite unusual. Whether this depends on my mom being quite eccentric and going for an unusual name, or whether the name is actually quite rare, you don't hear of many Nina's in the news compared to Lucy, or Kate, or Jane.

Nina may mean: = "nice eyes" in Hindu = "mother" in Swahili = "huge, excellent" in Native American language = "friendly" in Arabian = "flower" in Old Greek.
All my life my parents have referred to a baby naming book which states "Nina" to originally be a Babylonian reference to the 'Mythical Goddess of the Sea' - all other adaptations appear from the mid-century onwards... Happy hunting :)
