Golly you guys! This name does not come off as the least bit offensive at all! I really don't see how you got "the 6-letter n-word" out of this name. I personally think the name is pretty, including the meaning.
Why does every single name even closely resembling a "bad word" have to be criticized on this site. You never know, some English names could sound like swear words in other languages.
Nîga would sound pretty if it wasn’t close to the six letter slur for African Americans. If a girl was saddled with this name, and all the black people heard her name, they probably wouldn’t like it! It’s okay to name your daughter this in other countries, but it’s probably going to lead to a conflict if it was saddled on a female child here!

I don’t like this name, it reminds me too much of the bad word.

It might sound good in Kurdish, but it's way too similar to the racial slur.
It may sound nice in Kurdish. But I hope no one uses it anymore.

In an English-speaking country this name unfortunately might get a few double-takes. But, as LoQuiero said, it carries none of the same implications in the countries where it is popular because the word "nigger" doesn't exist in the Kurdish language, or at least not in that form. Although personally, I don't think that this name sounds very offensive even in English. I doubt that I would even make the association with the pronunciation and context of an actual conversation. Looking at the name written just on its own is somewhat different.
I really don't know what comments like the ones above are for, as they are obviously written by people who don't think twice. I doubt someone in the U.S. would call his/her daughter Nîga, yes, of course - but after all, it's a KURDISH name, so I don't see why you people write something about "Who the hell would call his child Nîga?!", because in Turkey, Armenia etc. it's a normal name and a very beautiful one, too. Just because it makes YOU think of the n-word doesn't mean it's a name that cannot be used at all.
