Nettie Langston Napier (born Nettie DeElla Langston) was an African-American activist for the rights of women of color during the early part of the 20th century.
Nettie McBirney (1887 – 1982) was an American inventor, writer and entrepreneur, who wrote a cooking column under the pseudonym Aunt Chick for the Tulsa Daily World from 1935 to 1955. McBirney began inventing kitchen aids during the Depression, such as a non-stick pastry canvas and rolling pin cover and a pie pan that promised perfect bottom crusts on pies. The invention she became best known for was her Cooky Molding Cutter, now known as Gramma's Cutter, a cookie cutter designed to easily release the molded cookie dough and maintain a 3-D appearance. She began selling them in 1948 and they quickly caught on; Princess Margaret purchased a set of the cookie cutters for Prince Charles in 1952, and Wrigley purchased, then sold 70,000 sets as a special promotion the same year.
Nettie Depp (1874 – 1932) was an American education reformer and the first woman elected to public office in Barren County, Kentucky when she was elected Superintendent of Barren County Schools in 1913. She served from January 1, 1914, through December 31, 1917. Nettie Depp was the great-great aunt of actor Johnny Depp, who himself is the great-grandson of Nettie's brother, Oren R. Depp.
Nettie! So cute! I like it, although, as I do with many of these names (like Lily, Charlie, Sally, Ellie, Abby, etc), I see it more as a nickname than a full name. I mean, if you want to nickname your daughter Nettie, you'd better give her a long name like Annette, Jeanette, Janet, Marilene, Marlene, Magdalene, or even Anna. Thus her name grows with her as she ages.
In 2018, 84 is the most common age for an American (U.S.) Nettie* who is registered female with the Social Security Administration. It is the 1, 537th most common female first name for living U.S. citizens. *as a first name, not a nickname.

Nettie is the name of one of the vampires that helped to turn Jasper in the Twilight series.
Normally, I would think of this as an ugly old lady name. But it's been growing on me lately and it sounds cute to me. Even so, I wouldn't name my child this.
