It more directly means "little saint" as "naomh" means "saint" in Irish. Saint Brigit would be Naomh Bríd (or Naomh Bríde). There are many schools and GAA clubs in Ireland that have "Naomh" in their name because they were named in honour of a saint. [noted -ed]
