This is my name. It’s pronounced mee-len. Although it’s a beautiful name when said in French, unfortunately in my experience it is never pronounced properly by non French speakers. When they read my name, they always say my-leen (which I hate) because of the way it’s spelled. Even when I politely correct them, they still struggle to pronounce it and will say something like muh-len, mee-lin, mee-lan, or even worse they just won’t ever say my name whatsoever. I often think of changing my name to Milena (mee-lenna) because it’s more of a phonetic spelling but ending with ‘a’, and also much easier to pronounce.
