Meaning & History
Georgian form of Mirzakhan. This name is extremely rare in Georgia today; actually, one could almost consider it to be archaic. A known bearer of this name was the nobleman Murzaqan Shervashidze (18th century), who named his fiefdom after himself, Samurzaqano ("land of Murzaqan"). The -q- in these names is often transliterated to -k- in English, e.g. Murzakan and Samurzakano.
