Mungo Jerry, a British group from the 70s. The name was inspired from a poem called "Mungojerrie and Rumpleteazer". I am unsure where Mungojerrie comes from, but if it is a real name, Mungo could be a short version of it. I also think of Mary Mungo and Midge.

I work at a Filipino restaurant and I think there's a dish with this name, made from Mung beans. Just saying.
As someone of Filipino background, I want to explain. Mung beans in Tagalog is "munggo" (I've also seen it spelt as "monggo"), pronounced "moong-go". The most well known Filipino mung bean dish is called 'Ginisang munggo', known in English as "Mung bean stew" or "Sauteed mung beans". It's delicious with pork.
I don't really care for this name; it reminds me of 'mango'. As well, if the video game Fallout 3, there is a town full of kids who use 'Mungo' as a derogatory name for adults.
I love how this name sounds. If I changed my name, it would be Mungo.
