Meaning & History
From მუხრანი (Mukhrani), the name of a historical lowland district in eastern Georgia. It was originally called მუხნარი (Mukhnari) or მუხნარ (Mukhnar), which literally meant "of an oak" but signified "oak-grove". It was derived from Georgian მუხა (mukha) meaning "oak tree". A known bearer of this name was the Georgian poet Mukhran Machavariani (1929-2010).
