Meaning & History
Probably derived from the Arabic adjective مضر (mudirr) meaning "hurtful, harmful, pernicious". This name was borne by one of the patrilineal ancestors of the prophet Muhammad. It was also the name of an old Arab tribe, which in early medieval times had a province in Upper Mesopotamia named after them, namely Diyar Mudar.A notable modern bearer of this name is Mudar Badran (b. 1934), a Jordanian retired politician who had been prime minister of Jordan four times.
