Meaning & History

From Japanese 祈 (motomu) meaning "pray, hope, wish" or 須 (motomu) meaning "short while, moment, mandatory, necessary". It could also be from 亘 (moto) meaning "request, span", 基 (moto) meaning "foundation, base" or 素 (moto) meaning "elementary, principle" that is then combined with 求 (mu) meaning "request, want, wish for, require, demand". Other kanji or kanji combinations can form this name as well.
